Grading of Tests
Can you get partial credit on tests for the work you show? Or if you miss a part, you lose all the points?

Re: Grading of Tests
Most times, you do get partial credit if it makes sense. But, it also depends on the grader.

most of the time in 14A we got partial credit. Depends on the TA because they are grading

In 14A we usually got partial credit for doing certain steps of a calculation correctly, but it really depends on how your TA grades

Re: Grading of Tests
My TA in 14A usually gave me points for following the right steps even though the final calculations were wrong.
Re: Grading of Tests
On the midterm last quarter, I lost all points on a calculation question following a step in which I forgot to divide by Avogadro's number. I talked to my TA about the partial credit policy, and he said that partial credit can only be given if it is specifically allotted on the rubric. So, please be careful during calculations and don't lose points because of little mistakes like I did!

Re: Grading of Tests
I agree, I’m pretty sure partial credit is given based on the steps you’ve taken; every step taken towards the answer is allotted a specific number of points until you reach the final answer, which would give you full points if correct, so the earlier you mess up the less points you’ll be given.

Re: Grading of Tests
I believe they do give partial credit thus write down as much as you can even if its wrong you should still be able to get some points if you follow the correct steps.

Re: Grading of Tests
I have only received partial credit in the past if it was very close to the actual answer.

Re: Grading of Tests
Yes, partial credit is given so it's important to always show all of your work even if your final answer turns out to be incorrect.

Re: Grading of Tests
Typically partial credit is given, but it really does depend on who is grading your exam.
Re: Grading of Tests
Test #1 may come back this week or next week most likely, depending on when the TAs grade them. In 14A, they usually were returned outside of lecture or during the discussion section.
