DELTA H Vs Q

Postby Sara Richmond 2K » Fri Jan 31, 2020 7:28 pm

SO are the units of Delta H KJ per mole while the units of Q are just KJ.

I believe that is correct because DELTA H depends on the amount of the substance that reacted.

Delta H is Kilojoules per mole because it is the amount of heat that is required for a particular substance to form, vaporize, sublimate etc.
Q is KJ to measure heat transferred between two systems

Delta H is measured in heat, whereas Q means enthalpy. Enthalpy is a state property, whereas heat is not.

Yes because delta H is associated with the heat that is needed for a substance to form.

Delta H is a measure of enthalpy whereas Q is the energy in transit. Delta H is a state of the system.

Yes, the ∆H of a reaction depends on the number of moles being reacted as the ∆H represents how much heat is required or released per mole of reactant/product. However, q represents the heat required or released in a system based on the number of moles or mass in a reaction.

Delta H is based on the amount of substance used while Q is the amount of energy released in total.
