Re: Calorimeter
A calorimeter is an apparatus that measures heat involved in a chemical reaction. To calculate the heat of reactions, you can use heat capacity and the relationships between heat absorbed and lost.

Re: Calorimeter
Usually, the heat capacity of a Calorimeter is already known, so that way scientists can use them to find the heat capacities or other factors of the materials placed in them.

Re: Calorimeter
A calorimeter is also a perfect example of an isolated system, and the heat capacity of the calorimeter must be taken into account along with the heat capacity of the solution inside of the calorimeter.

Re: Calorimeter
In regards to calorimeters, it is also important to remember that -q = qcal. In other words, heat that is lost from the system is gained by the calorimeter. Hope this helps.

Re: Calorimeter
A calorimeter measure the heat change when a reaction occurs. A bomb calorimeter, though, has constant volume.
