A closed system is when the energy of the system can exchange with the surroundings, but it is closed so the matter can not (an example of this is a thermometer). An isolated system is when neither energy or matter can exchange with its surroundings(an example of this is a bomb calorimeter).

A closed system has a fixed amount of matter but it can exchange energy with the surroundings whereas an isolated system can exchange neither matter nor energy with the surroundings.

A closed system can transfer energy with the surroundings while an isolated system cannot. Neither exchanges matter with the surroundings

Isolated systems do not exchange matter or energy with its surroundings (where closed systems can only exchange energy). The universe is said to be the ultimate isolated system because it can't really exchange anything with its "surroundings" (it has no surroundings)

A closed system is when energy can exchange with its surroundings, but an isolated system is when nothing exchanges with its surroundings.

An isolated system has no contact with the outside environment (hence "isolated") whereas closed systems can still interact with the environment

a closed system can transfer energy to the surroundings but not matter. an isolated system can not transfer energy or matter to the surroundings. an example of a closed system would be an ice pack. an example of an isolated system would be a thermos.

And an isolated system can't exchange any matter or energy

An isolated system cannot exchange any energy with its surroundings; however, a closed system can transfer energy (only).

A closed system can exchange energy with its surroundings but not matter, while an isolated system can’t exchange matter or energy with its surroundings. An example of an isolated system would be a thermos (insulated, neither matter nor energy can be exchanged) and an example of a closed system could be a capped water bottle (matter can’t be exchanged but heat can)
