What is the difference between heat, heat capacity, and specific heat capacity? They all seem so similar to me and I get confused

q is heat and is in units of joules. It is really heat transfer from one object to another. Heat capacity is the amount of heat needed to raise an object by 1 degree Celsius, in units of J/C. It is an extensive property since it depends on the amount of material present (larger object = larger heat capacity). Specific heat capacity, on the other hand, is the amount of heat needed to raise one gram of an object by 1 degree Celsius, which is in units of J/gxC. This is an intensive property because it doesn't matter how much of an object you have, it will always be the same for that object.
