## state property

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \Delta H^{\circ} - T \Delta S^{\circ}$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= -RT\ln K$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(products) - \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(reactants)$

Is Gibbs Free Energy a state property, and if so why?

### Re: state property

Yes. The path required to get to a value doesn't matter with G, so it is a state property. This is why you can perform a Hess's Law-type problem with an equation given G values.

### Re: state property

Gibbs is a state property because all of its components, enthalpy, temperature, and entropy, are also state properties.

### Re: state property

Because Gibbs is made up of other state properties, it too is a state property.

### Re: state property

The Gibbs free energy of a reaction is not dependent on the path the reaction takes but rather, the net change between the internal energy of the products vs the internal energy of a reactant, making it a state function
