## Thermodynamics Outline Second Page [ENDORSED]

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \Delta H^{\circ} - T \Delta S^{\circ}$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= -RT\ln K$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(products) - \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(reactants)$

### Thermodynamics Outline Second Page

For the first bullet point on the second page of the outline, what is the explanation for "why reaction free energy depends on pressure and the equilibrium constant?"

As I discussed in class:

delta G = delta Go + RT ln Q

and

delta Go = - RT ln K

For gas phase reactions Q and K depend on the partial pressure of each reactant and product.

For aqueous reactions Q and K depend on the concentration of each reactant and product.

That involves the equations G=RTlnQ and G=RTlnK.
