### Le Chatelier’s Principle

Can someone please explain how Le Chatelier’s Principle applies to cell potential? I was a little confused when it was explained in class.

I think it is a similar to applying Le Chatelier's to change in temperature. When the cell potential is positive, it means the forward reaction is favored so when it is increased the forward reaction will occur. When the cell potential is negative, the reverse reaction is favored so when it is increased the reverse reaction will occur. Hope this helps.

We are still dealing with concentrations like Al and Al3+ or Zn and Zn2+. Therefore, the same principles we learned in the equilibrium unit apply here. If there's too much concentration of one of these ions, the equilibrium will shift to satisfy LeChatelier's.

I believe so, hence why cell potential is affected too

increasing concentrations of products and reactants will cause the reaction to shift the same according to le chateliers principle.

Just like in equilibrium, changing the concentrations will change the direction the rxn is favored, so we apply Le Chatelier's principle.

Le Chatelier's Principle just refers to how adding more of a substance in either cell can cause movement of cell potential either up or down depending on what you are adding and to which side of the reaction it belongs to (reduction or oxidation).

In relation to Le Chatelier's principle, I think it would just be how the reaction would react to a change in the shift in products and reactants based on concentrations.

It's all about how it makes one side of the reaction more favorable.
