how can you tell if the reaction will favor the forward or reverse process from the E value?

When the Cell Potential is positive, this refers to a negative delta G and therefore a spontaneous reaction which proceed over time, not necessarily in a fast manner.

From the equation deltaG = -nFE, we can determine if a reaction is favored or not.

If E (cell potential) is positive, deltaG is negative and thus will be spontaneous.
If E is negative, deltaG will be positive and therefore non-spontaneous.

Delta G will be negative meaning the reaction is spontaneous, if Ecell is positive. However, if Ecell is negative, deltaG will be positive. This means that the reaction will not be spontaneous

If the E cell value is positive, the delta G is negative, and K is greater than one. If the E cell value is negative, the delta G is positive, and K is less than one.

When E is positive, delta G will be negative. This would mean that the reaction will be spontaneous. However, when E is negative, delta G will be positive. This would mean that the reaction will be non-spontaneous.

If the cell potential for a reaction is positive that means that delta G is negative meaning the reaction is spontaneous.

When the cell potential is positive it means the forward reaction will be favored as it is spontaneous. If the cell potential is negative, then the reverse reaction is spontaneous and will be favored.

delta G=-nFE, so if there is a positive cell potential (E) then delta G is negative, making it a spontaneous reaction.

If the E value is positive, this means that the deltaG value is negative, so the process is spontaneous.
