Reasonable values for K

Postby Jocelyn Thorp 1A » Wed Mar 04, 2020 2:16 am

does anyone know what the possible ranges for K are? Like what is the the minimum/maximum value you would find for K in the real world?

i think it would be between k>10^-3 and k<10^3 but idk exactly what you're asking.

Also, 10^-3 < K < 10^3 means that neither the reactants nor products are favored.

I understand that values above 10^3 are large and below 10^-3 are small. I'm asking what values are reasonable, as in what are the minimum and maximum k values that have been found experimentally.

I think it should be 10^-3<k<10^3 where k values less than 10^-3 are considered small, and k values bigger than 10^3 are considered large.

Piggybacking on OP, yeah how likely are we to find K that is "large" or "small" in the real world?

as long as K is between 10^-3 and 10^3 it should be reasonable

if K is greater than 1 then products are favored, less than 1 and reactants are favored
