e- amount

If the number of e- don’t match on both sides of the reaction, then did I balance the redox reaction incorrectly? Do they have to be the same for the reactant and product/cancel out?

Multiply the reaction(s) so that the number of e- are the same.

The amount of e- on both sides should be equal for the redox reaction to be fully balanced. You can try multiplying one or both the half reactions to get equal electrons on each side.

You need to multiply the reactions so that the number of moles of e- are the same and they will cancel out correctly.

You would multiply the reactions to balance out the number of electrons between the half reactions.

You just need to multiply the reaction(s) to balance out the number of electrons, and then you should be able to cancel them out since they will then be equal.

To cancel out the electrons, multiply the half-reactions to get equal amounts of electrons on both sides and then add the reactions together.

For the reaction to be fully balanced the amount of e- on both sides should be balanced. If they are not balanced after balancing O and H then you would multiply one or both half reactions to get equal electrons on each side.

Yes, it believes it would be deemed incorrect because if the electrons are unbalanced that means the charges don't cancel out even though the compounds themselves are equal. Just multiply it to get the common multiple and you'll be good. :)

The number of electrons should be balanced on both sides. You can multiply to get them to equal each other.
