How do we determine whether k is < or > 1? Also, why is it important?

If [products] > [reactants], then K > 1. If [reactants] > [products], then K < 1.

Knowing K is helpful in determining in which direction the reaction is favored. If the E of a cell is greater than 0, then K is less than 1, and the opposite if true if E is less than 0.

based on the correlation that K = [products] / [reactants] , if k> 1 then [products] > [reactants]. if if k< 1 then [products] < [reactants]

if the concentration of the products is greater than the concentration of the reactants, K>1 and if the concentration of the products is lower than the concentration of the reactants, K<1. This helps you determine which side the reaction favors.

To determine if K is < or > 1 look at the ratio of the concentration of products over reactants. If there are more products than reactants, K>1. If there are more reactants than products, K<1. When K>1 (more products), the E of the cell will be positive.

K is determined by the ratio of [products] to [reactants].

This will tell you if the reaction favors products or reactants at equilibrium. If K is greater than 1, then more products are formed. If it is less then more reactants.

K is determined by [products] over [reactants] so when [products] are greater than [reactants] k is greater than 1. When [products] are less than [reactants] k is less than 1.
