is A the initial concentration or given concentrations when plugging them into equations? or is it not even concentrations?

A represents the reactant molar concentration. If its [a]0 then it's the initial concentration.

Also note if you were ever confused that A naught is how we refer to [A]0, and that the little 0 symbol, or naught, does often mean the initial or starting point when it is in the lower position (whereas it would usually mean under standard conditions if it were in the upper position).

In the Arrhenius equation, A does not represent concentrations. Instead, it is a reaction-based constant that describes the spatial requirements for the reaction to occur. If k is large, meaning that the reaction rate will be large, then A will also be large. A large A tells us that the spatial requirements for the reaction to occur are not demanding, whereas a small A tells us that they are.

Also, A varies by reaction but is mostly independent of temperature.
