Catalysis is the process of increasing the rate of a chemical reaction by adding a substance known as a catalyst and are purely mechanisms that lower activation energy and are not included in the equation, therefore, they will not be in the rate law

It is basically the process of speeding up a reaction by providing a new pathway and lowering the activation energy.

catalysis is basically the process of increasing the rate of a chemical reaction by adding a substance known as a catalyst, it accelerates the reaction.

Catalysis results in lowering the activation energy for a reaction to proceed, thus increasing the rate constant.

Can someone help explain the gas phase example of Nitric Oxide that Lavelle gave for Homogeneous Catalyst? I don't quite get how we get to 3/2 O2?

Also, do catalysts affect the reverse reaction in the same way that it affects the forward reaction?

does anyone know if catalysis applies to the reverse reaction as well? Like, would a catalyst also affect how quickly products can form back into reactants

A catalyst is a reactant in the first step, and a product in the second step. It lowers activation energy, and speeds up a reaction.

Catalysis is when the rate of a reaction is increased by decreasing the necessary activation energy of a reaction through the use of a catalyst such as an enzyme.

Catalysis increases the forward and reverse reaction rates by lowering activation energy.
