"Open Book" Final?

I'm not sure if this question has been answered yet on Chem Community, but what are the resources we'd use in this "open book" final scenario? Would it be our textbook and/or notes and/or chem community? That's what I've been assuming but is it stricter or looser than that?

In Professor Lavelle's email, he mentions that we can use Chemistry Community up to the day of the final so I was wondering the same thing if there are only certain resources we can use. I do believe that since it is open book then we should be able to use our class notes.

I believe for "open book" it does entail classroom notes, office hour notes, discussion notes and packets, and everything in between.

Open book is pretty every resource you can lay your hands on. I don't think he will be using Respondus or another program to record us while taking the exam, so I think textbook, notes, and other instructional notes are all fair game for "open book."

I don't think it is going to be very strict, so you can probably use any resource that you have available!

I think that lecture notes and the textbook are fine. I don't think chemistry community is allowed though.

He mentioned that it was going to be pretty short and simple so I would assume no more than 1.5 hours, so half of what the actual final would have been like.

I am assuming this means any resources we have access to we can use for this final. I am not sure how this would work yet as we don't know the window we can turn in the test but we will see when Lavelle lets us know :)

Thank goodness, the thought of using respondus gives me so much anxiety, but thanks your answer was very clear.

Any resource should be up for use except for chemistry community just because he said we can use it up to the day of the final.

I believe that pretty much anything goes at this point as long as you aren't plagiarizing

I am pretty sure he mentioned allotting from 3-4 hours for the actual final exam, even though you should be able to finish it in half the time.

We will be able to use our notes, textbook, and chemistry community! Exam should be short, but he said he'd give us 3-4 hours to complete it. He will give us more info on Saturday!

Professor Lavelle emailed us saying someone wrote: “I just finished the final. It took me 1 hr 12 minutes to complete, and I went very slowly and wrote out my work for each step taking plenty of time with each question, closed book."

So far all he has said is that it's going to be taken online, but we don't need to use any other apps/software like respondus.

open book means anything that would help you. I wouldnt get too stuck up on the notes though or you may run out of time
