Reversible and Irreversible

What details about reversible and irreversible work do we have to know? Our book seems to stress the difference but I don't remember hearing much about it in lecture.

I think we have to know that a reversible process is a system at equilibrium (infinitely small changes in a variable can reverse the process) and that maximum work is achieved in a reversible process.

I think we also have to know that Irreversible processes are sudden and big changes.

For reversible processes, the pressure of internal and external is (close to) equal.
