Constants
How many decimals are we expected to use for constants like the speed of light and Planck's constant for the midterm?

I don't believe there's an expected number of places after the decimal, but the more you use, the more accurate your answer will be.

If you want to be safe I'd recommend using the constants that are written on the formula sheet!

From what I have heard, the midterm will be multiple choice, so you won't need to worry too much if you rounded a little differently. I'd say that using several decimal places would be on the safe side, but as long as you're close it should be fine.

Hi! Yep, basically what's been said above. I'd use what's on the constants sheet, but the more the merrier (especially when using a calculator).

I would use how ever many are shown on the sheet of equations and constants that we print out, but the more that you use the closer your answer will be to the correct answer.

Use what Lavelle's constant sheet gives us! He always uses 3x10^8 and 6.626x10^-34 for the constants you mentioned.

I would use the numbers provided on the formula sheet. Because the test is multiple choice, if your answer is slightly different due to slightly different constants, you can just choose the closest answer!

The midterm will be multiple choice so I'm sure your answer doesn't need to be exactly on the dot. To be safe though, I'd recommend using the given values on the equations sheet we were given.

There is no specification but I recommend using as many as possible ESPECIALLY when dealing with very small numbers like moles for instance. I have gone through some molecular formula problems and got varying answers solely because I did not use exact amounts for the molar masses.

Hi, I agree with what is said above. Use the amount that is specified on the formula sheet and try to avoid rounding many decimal places until the end of the problem to get the closest decimal possible. It will make it easier to match your answer to whatever is closest on the multiple choice!

My TA said to use as many as the worksheet gives but to make sure your answer has the correct amount of sig figs.

I recommend using the same amount as in the worksheet given to us and try to keep as many decimal places you can in between calculations. Since the midterm is multiple choice then you can just pick whatever answer is the closest to yours.

I like to use at least three decimal places, but the more numbers you use, the more accurate your answer will be. If you have a graphing calculator, you can also copy the exact answer and apply it into the equation you are solving for.

I would just follow the exact constants on the formula sheet! :) ex.) using 2.998 over 3.00 for the speed of light will give you a more precise answer!

I don't think it has ever been specified how many to use. Bu the more you use, the more accurate your answer will be. So if possible, I think it would be better to use more.

I definitely recommend using the constants provided for us on this midterm. But, I don't think it matters as long as you are somewhat close to the answer then you should be able to reach the correct answer as it is all multiple choice.
