I was literally so winded after the midterm, like I was just walking around my house in a daze thinking of everything I might have done wrong :/ But then I ate and got on Netflix and started watching a new show, so I'm fine now!

Brendan,

"Don't look at me
Everyday is so wonderful
Then suddenly
It's hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure
From all the pain
I'm so ashamed
I am beautiful
No matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can't bring me down
Oh no
So don't you bring me down today
To all your friends you're delirious
So consumed
In all your doom, ooh
Trying hard to fill the emptiness
The pieces gone
Left the puzzle undone
Ain't that the way it is
You are beautiful
No matter what they say
Words can't bring you down
Oh no
You sre beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can't bring you down
Oh no
So don't you bring me down today
No matter what we do (no matter what we do)
No matter what we say (no matter what we say)
We're the song inside the tune (yeah, oh yeah)
Full of beautiful mistakes
And everywhere we go (and everywhere we go)
The sun will always shine (the sun will always, always, shine)
And tomorrow we might awake
On the other side
'Cause we are beautiful
No matter what they say
Yes words won't bring us down
Oh no
We are beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can't bring us down
Oh no
So don't you bring me down today
Oh, oh oh
Don't you bring me down today, yeah
Don't you bring me down, ooh
Today"

It's okay you guys!!! I believe in all of you, and I bet you all did better than you think :D!! Also, we have a lot of opportunities to improve for this next midterm and final, such as the workshops, step-up sessions, and more! Don't give up, and stay positive :))

When we lose our way in the world, look to Christina Aguilera for guidance!!!! But on a serious note, I understand what you're feeling! Something that makes me feel better is just thinking that this is a time of serious adjustment (at least for me), and that everything will get sorted out eventually when I fully learn how to adjust to the demands of college!

I totally understand! I am glad i'm not the only one who feels this way. I normally think this but end up doing better than I expected. We have to not doubt ourselves so much sometimes...

Yeah, I'm a little worried about no partial credit/credit for written work, but luckily it's early in the quarter and we have room to improve!

Yeah don't worry I feel you on that, but it's first quarter and all things considering I can imagine why we'd not do well in our first college exams.

It's okay to feel sad about your exam for a while. However, things have been made and you have no way to change the reality. I think the most important thing right now is to focus on the topics we are learning and try to do better in later tests.

I definitely relate, but this was one of our first midterms during our first quarter of college and it's already a super stressful time. I don't think anyone expects people to be thriving right now. I wouldn't beat yourself up about it—it's perfectly fine and beneficial to make mistakes because they give you an opportunity to learn. Sounds cheesy, but it's true. There's always room for improvement :)

Same here, I was just in my discussion and my TA mentioned that our average was high compared to other sections, and all the other students were happy about it. But I know I did not really contribute to that average, and it upsets me. Let's hope the next midterm is better! :')

I definitely felt the exact same way! I stressed so much after taking the exam, mentally going over every single step I might have messed up on. But it's all preparing and bettering ourselves for the next time! Just because we don't do particularly well on one exam, doesn't discredit us for the rest of our college careers! Plus, it was the first midterm for chemistry! It's understandable to feel some pressure and test anxiety! It's cheesy, but we are all literally in the same boat, so don't feel alone on this one!

Don’t stress too much! The chemistry community points along with the homework make up a good portion of the grade and you can do better on the next tests!!

Nobody is seeing this by accident. We all needed this most once we came across it. the power that that has is mind blowing. lol for real though I felt the same way after the midterm but then you have to realize that you can make up for those missing points both in this class and other classes. this in no way determines your GPA for all of college so try not to overthink it and just focus on doing better on the coming exams and homework.

Now you know at what level you need to prepare for this coming midterm and future tests. As long as you know you're doing your best its the learning that counts and not the grade.

This thread is so supportive! Don't feel discouraged about the midterm grades, this quarter has been really difficult for a lot of people because of online school and being stuck at home. You'll also have a lot of chances to make up points with Sapling homework and chem community!

This class gives a lot of stress considering that we basically only have three exams that determine the majority of our grade, but seriously no worries! We've all got this!

thought some positivity could be put out there!!

I found this quote from Jimmy Dean and I love it:

"I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination."

You guys will totally get through this! <3 Hope you all have a great weekend!

One thing I've found is that it normally doesn't matter how we feel after the midterm. Even if you feel great about it, sometimes you end up bombing. On the contrary, you may feel terrible but end up doing great! I've found it's best not to wonder and hope for the best. If the results don't end up being what you want, then feel great in the fact that we have a final which you can prepare more for so that you can bounce back!

I definitely realized some mistakes I made right after I submitted my midterm, but hopefully what we learn from this midterm's mistakes will help us succeed on the final (fingers crossed!).

I felt this way about my first midterm too. It really helped to email my TA about it and talk it out! They really are looking to help you! Mine even offered to go over the midterm and let me ask any questions I wanted about it! Don't stress about it too much its just one exam!

Same here, but we have to keep our chins up and work to do better on the next one

I had this feeling after both Midterm 1 and 2 and I feel like its just the nerves that make you second guess. I was so worried after Midterm 1 and I ended up doing okay. Just try not to overthink or worry!

Just remember that you tried your best! Even if you did not do as well as you expected, take this as a learning experience and use this to fuel your motivation for the final!

Everything will be okay! You should definitely focus on getting some rest and such after the midterm. You can worry about your mistakes after some well-deserved breaks :)

Aww this mindset is so nice and positive. I definitely agree, we can learn from our mistakes. And that's gonna be important for the final.

Ahh I'm familiar with that feeling, but it's important to remember that your midterm grade doesn't determine your overall grade, nor does this one grade you get for the class determine your future! You have many more opportunities and chances to do better, so don't feel down!!

I definitely feel like I made silly mistakes on both midterms and all I can do is try to minimize that for the final and hopefully it will make up for it and pay off in the end. But I'm feeling a little discouraged in terms of grades too!

Don’t worry! I know this is easier said than done, but worrying and stressing about the grade will only bring you down! Bring your chin up and try to focus on how to move forward because there will be other opportunities to bring your grade up and try to remember, one grade doesn’t define you! Go on a walk, take a nice long bath, eat some delicious food, and watch some Netflix shows to take your mind off the stress!

I feel the same way in fact after I ended the zoom call I had a nice cry. I think we just need to realize that it is not the end of the world and there's just room for improvement!

Thank you for sharing this. I needed to hear that it's not the end and I know we can definitely all improve!

I feel the same way. I was hoping for a really good exam; I thought I understood the topics well, but it was worse than the first one.

I read in a different thread that they should be out tomorrow.
