Re: Alkaline
I believe so.
Alkaline solutions refers to a mixture of base solids dissolved in water (from the internet).

Re: Alkaline
I think they're very similar, so when someone says that something is alkaline you can assume they're saying it's basic. Alkaline just means something with a pH greater than seven.

Re: Alkaline
Yes! If a solution is alkaline, it means it is basic and therefore a pH higher than 7. Hope this helps!

Re: Alkaline
Yes, an alkaline solution is referring to a basic solution, meaning it has a pH>7 and contains more hydroxide ions than hydronium ions,

Re: Alkaline
I think it is right to say that an alkaline solution/compound is the same as a basic solution/compound. However, an ALKALI is a base (that dissolves in water).
Not all bases are alkali but all alkali is base.

Re: Alkaline
Yes, it is synonymous to basic. I actually searched up this forum to just say that my dentist talked about saliva being either too acidic or too alkaline. Those with acidic saliva are prone to having cavities and those with alkaline saliva tend to build up calculus (the hard stuff that grows on your teeth). This came from my dentist.
