Using the ICE table

Postby Vivian Leung 1C » Sat Jan 16, 2021 5:51 pm

Hi,

I just wanted to make sure, but we can use the ICE table to find partial pressures of a reaction right (and not just molar concentrations)?

Yes. The ice table is just a method for solving anything that has a initial amount, final amount, and change, which would certainly include pressure.

yes, personally I know ICE tables are used when doing these calculations but I like to use them on most problems just to keep everything organized and make sure I'm not missing anything

Hello! Yes you are correct. You can use the ICE table whenever it asks you to calculate the equilibrium composition. Also just like Hana said, is to keep the initial, change, and the equilibrium molar concentrations all together and organized.

Yes, the ICE table can be used to find equilibrium concentrations of a reaction as well as the equilibrium partial pressures.

Yea, the ICE table can be used for both partial pressure and concentration. Using these table, one could find many quantities such as the K constant or initial concentration of something.

Yes, it can absolutely be used to find partial pressures, just keep that you're working with pressure units instead of concentrations!

I believe you would be able to use the ICE table for both concentration and partial pressures! This is a great tool to keep everything organized.

Yes! The same process for finding either the initial, change, or equilibrium concentrations using an ICE table can also be used for finding pressure amounts.

ICE tables can be used for both partial pressures and concentrations and is useful when solving for initial, change or equilibrium values, as said by Juliet.

Yes we can because the ICE table focuses on molar ratios! This allows us to use it for partial pressures and concentration.

Yes, you can use the ICE/RICE table to figure out the initial, change, and equilibrium value of both pressure and concentration.

Using ICE tables are applicable to both partial pressures and concentrations as you use Kp and Kc the same way([products]/[reactions]). Hope this helps!

That is correct! We also use the ICE table when calculating partial pressures in order to find the equilibrium pressures. It is essentially the same process as using concentrations just make sure you remember your units!

Yes you can use the ICE table for both partial pressure and concentration. Just make sure your units are the same throughout the table to reduce the risk of error.

So the only real difference when using an ICE table for partial pressure compared to moles is the units? The process is essentially the same for both is what I'm seeing.

Yes, you can use it for both! There will be practice problems that you come across where you will have to use the ICE table to solve questions relating to pressure.

Hi! Yes, you can use the ICE table when you're given Kp and partial pressures as well as when you're given Kc and molar concentrations. Just make sure that your values are consistent throughout your ICE table (meaning that all of your values given in either partial pressures or molar concentrations, depending on whether you're given or using Kp or Kc).

Yes, it should work for both pressure and concentration as long as you still find the initial, change, and equilibrium pressures correctly.

That's correct. The main purpose of ICE tables is to find amounts of reactants and products at equilibrium when given initial amounts, which can be in either concentration or pressure, based on what the question gives you / is asking for.
