Units to know

Postby Ashley Lopez 3J » Sun Jan 17, 2021 10:50 pm

What are other units, that mean the same, that could be used in equilibrium concentrations besides mol.L-1 and bar?

Atm, or atmospheres, a unit for pressure, should be good to know. The conversion from that to bar can just be approximated to 1:1.

For partial pressure, I know there's at least atm and torr, and the ideal gas constants for those units are listed in the constants and equations sheet.

These aren't the same but 1 atm=760 torr and they're both used for partial pressure.

You should also know atmospheres and torr (1 atm=760 torr) when dealing with partial pressures.

newton, pascal, and meters are all untis of pressure I believe

Atm and Torr are both units for pressure that you should know.

I think for pressure, you need to know atm and torr!

we mainly need to know atm and torr!

Atm and torr are the most important to know, but I have seen threads where people say we may need to know pascals and Barr. Honestly, it is best to just follow the course outlines because Dr. Lavelle includes units we should know. If not there, check the new equations sheet because maybe there are conversion factors.

So far, I believe we have only dealt with atm (atmospheres), besides bar and mol. L-1. Both atm and bar are used to measure partial pressure, and the unit conversion is 1:1. We have not dealt with torr yet, however the unit conversion between atm and torr is 1 atm=760 torr.

The units to know for pressure are atm and torr
