Re: How to relax
I like to watch Netflix, cuddle with my cat, and read. I also play the piano every once in a while or do cross-stitching or knitting, but unfortunately I haven't had a lot of time to do those things recently.

Re: How to relax
I usually never have much time to watch my shows on Netflix, so when I do have downtime that's my favorite thing to do to relax.

Re: How to relax
When I am stressed from school, I like to lay down and either watch some shows or listen to music. Often times, I would just take a walk around my house or talk to my siblings.

If you're fidgety when you're stressed, try investing in a high-quality stress ball. You won't regret it :)
Re: How to relax
Eat sleep rave repeat. It sucks but my friends this is the grind. One day after another. one day at a time. a quarter-mile at a time. from a 5 minute sleep to an 8 hour nap it's all the same in college.

Re: How to relax
I took a meditating fiat lux class in the fall and it definitely helps me relax. It is nice to just sit and breathe for a minute, and not have to think about anything in particular. If you are interested in meditation I would definitely recommend taking Professor Shorter's Meditation fiat lux if he is going to offer it in the spring!

I plan my entire day and put aside some time to relay at night. I have recently discovered that I enjoy painting and it calms me down.

I like to just lay down and listen to music or take a shower to clear up my mind. Just any activity that puts your mind back at ease. Having a good laugh works as well too.

Re: How to relax
I like to do art, whether that be painting, drawing, or sewing. I also enjoy reading to take my mind off of things, watching Netflix, eating good food, and drinking tea. Listening to comforting music can really help me unwind after a hard day as well, so I always have my airpods with me.

Re: How to relax
I feel like finding ways to truly relax depends on the individual but for me listening to certain music does the job. Personally, old school r&b works best. I recommend listening to music with headphones because doing so almost allows you to escape into a different world which is best when you are trying to distract yourself from the current stress you are encountering. Additionally, this may sound a little weird but watching cartoons also calms me down because it reminds me of when I was younger and had no worries.

Re: How to relax
It is never alright to force yourself while you're burned out. For me, the way I relax would play video games or attempt to dream as a form of escapism. Going outside just to breathe and take in the peace quiet helps most people out, or as a way to de-stress, you can scream in a place where no one is watching. Also drinking water is a good way to relax. Sometimes people forget to be hydrated and that can lead to headaches and other forms of pain.

I usually just blast music that I've played before and relive the memories of playing those pieces with that group of people.

I think that cooking and baking helps me relax. I especially like making Italian food, like pasta, pizza, and different desserts from scratch.

Re: How to relax
I like to sit with a warm drink (hot chocolate or tea or coffee, whatever floats your boat), get into comfy clothes and watch tv, read, or turn on calming music/ambient lighting and just sit! Sometimes stretching after a long day of work can feel super refreshing, and its also good for you! :)

To relax, I try to get enough sleep or more sleep, exercise, and spend time with friends. Relaxing is an important part of mental health and therefore important to helping you succeed in chemistry and school in general!!

Music, Music, Music. I love listening to dreampop, lo-fi, classical, meditation music. But listen to whatever winds you down. I find music to be a good distraction from the real world, a temporary escape if you will.

Re: How to relax
I just like to lay in my bed and listen to music, close my eyes, and try to tune out everything around me. It's super nice to not think about anything for a certain amount of time and just focus on the music.

Re: How to relax
Especially now, I usually destress by working out and listening to music, playing basketball, and playing games with my friends. I even joined the club Track and Field team to get myself in that mental state I had prior to covid during high school. Not only is it another extracurricular to keep my mind not on school 24/7, but it's a way for me to socialize with more people, since there are not many people I know with me being on campus for the first time. Also finding joy in being a student athlete again because it forces me to balance life out with tasks, helping my high functioning anxiety self lmao

Re: How to relax
I mostly listen to music or FaceTime my close friends. I’m not an extrovert exactly, but whenever I feel stressed it’s always helpful to have someone to talk me through my thoughts! I also like to read and draw, or I take a walk without music.

Honestly my friends are my happy place so just having spontaneous adventures with them to go get food or boba, it relaxes my mind for a while.

Re: How to relax
when I want to relax I tend either to watch TV or a movie, or if I want to relax but feel slightly more productive I will draw. I have a doodle book and I will put on some music and just sit and draw. It is really nice because I enjoy it and it helps ease my mind, but I still feel like I am accomplishing something and don't have that feeling of guilt over "wasting" time that sometimes comes with watching TV. Also, listening to music (or not listening to music) and going for a walk can be really nice too.

I usually go on a run but since coming to college I have been struggling to find time. Running makes me clear my mind and also feel heathier.

Re: How to relax
I like to take long showers and after just watch Netflix or Youtube while laying in bed. Sometimes, even though it sounds kind of odd, I like to clean just because it takes my mind off things and when I'm done it feels good to see a clean space.
Re: How to relax
I listen to music and go for long walks, if I can't go outside I just pace around the room. I probably look insane but walking helps me stay on a train of thought for longer.

To relax I usually go on tik tok, call a close family member or friend. I also like to spend time alone and outside if I ever need to remove myself from a specific environment.
