Quiz 2 Winter 2016

Quiz 2 covers Kinetics up to the end of page 75 in the course reader.
In the textbook, Chapter 15 up to the end of section 15.10.

So Quiz 2 covers the textbook only up to Ch15.10, but are we still responsible for the sections after 15.10 (for the final)? The Course Reader just says Read: Ch 15 (Omit 15.9), so I don't know if that means we should still read past Ch15.10 and just not worry about it for the upcoming quiz?

This announcement is only for quiz 2.

Sections after 15.10 could be on quiz 3 and/or the final.

Which textbook problems should we do in preparation for the quiz since we didnt finish all of Ch 15?

Question 61 deals with activation energies so I think we stop there so the last problem we should be able to do on the homework for Quiz 2 would be 55

The syllabus says to omit 15.9. Does that apply to the quiz too?

In the workbook for the practice quiz, are there any questions that we should omit because they won't be covered on the actual quiz?

You should complete all the questions in prep quiz 2. The workbook is due on Friday after the lecture. Up till then, you will have learnt all you need for the workbook.

No. The range of workbook and the actual quiz is different

Just know quiz two doesn't cover arrhenius equation and anything related to the activation energy.

For the quiz, #3) consider the reaction of nitrogen dioxide and fluorine gases
(1) NO2 +F2 --> NO2F + F
(2) NO2 + F --> NO2F

How do you know which would be unimolecular, bimolecular, or termolecular? Is it determined by the reactions needed to make the products?

I believe both reactions would be bimolecular. To my understanding, it's determined by the number of moles of reactants needed to make the products. In other words, it's the sum of the coefficients of the reactants. In both cases here, it would be 1 + 1 = 2 ; therefore, bimolecular.
