Final thoughts

Postby Levon Grigoryan » Sun Mar 14, 2021 10:24 pm

How did you guys perform on the final? What was easier and how was it (difficulty-wise) compared to the midterms? For me the final was a little bit simpler than the Midterms especially the first one. And finally, how do you guys feel about remote learning Chemestry? do you guys prefer in-person learning or how we have it now?

Wishing good luck to everyone.

The questions seemed much more straight forward than the finals

I thought the final was fair and the questions were very straight forward! Not too sure how well I did but definitely felt more confident than last quarter's final.

Honestly i prefer in person learning, but at the same time I feel like the assessments would also be much harder.

I honestly didn't think this final was as hard as last quarter's final. A lot of it was plug and chug if you knew what you were doing; the conceptual weren't that hard either. I would say this test is really fair.

As for my preferences, I would say online tests are better since they're multiple choice; I feel like I would blank out often if there were free responses.

I'm just praying for a passing grade at this point:) I'm really hoping in person classes resume soon because I don't think I'm learning as well online.

Went in thinking I was going to hate it but in the end felt pretty confident that I did fairly well on it.

Good point, I took 20A before then pandemic and free response is a lot harder than multiple-choice, but they also grade less harshly on free-response.

I didn’t think the final was that bad and went better than I expected. However I don’t want to jinx it either

I thought the final was pretty simple. Not as many calculations as I expected.

I just feel relieved :)
I feel proud of myself for finishing my first every chemistry course (14a and 14b) during such times

Pretty happy with how I did I think, it seemed a lot easier and more straightforward than both midterms. I feel that it was closer to the sapling homeworks and that helped me a lot.

I thought the final was fair, but personally, remote learning is difficult and is not as ideal as in-person classes. Some people learn better in different environments, but we can only make the best out of the situation. Wishing everyone a great spring break!

I feel a little better about the final than the midterms. The questions were more simple and straightforward.

I thought the final was better than the first Midterm, but worse than the second midterm, overall quite fair

I was expecting worse. However, it wasn't that bad. There were a few harder questions that required deep thinking.

Wasn't as bad as I expected it, although there were some hard questions.

I final was not too hard, most of the questions were very straightforward, and I did notice a few textbook problems. Good luck to the rest of you guys as well!

I thought the final was a lot easier than the one from 14A. I also had an easier time with the final compared to midterm 2, which I thought was the hardest exam this quarter. Maybe it’s because I’m just not as strong in thermo relative to equilibrium, redox, & kinetics.

It was definitely easier than expected especially since I finished with a lot of time to review my answers, however I do feel like some of the questions were worded slightly interesting. There was also a lot more elaborate problems than those in the textbook in my opinion.

I definitely feel relieved. I felt like I was going to get stuck somewhere and run out of time or that the questions were going to be difficult. But the final was very fair, it was nicely balanced with lots of time to remaining to take it slow. Can't wait to return to in person classes though, it makes it easier to focus and actually grasp concepts. Online school is so draining.

I honestly prepared for the worst, so seeing that exam was a huge relief! I found the questions fair and the time allotted was a lot better than 14A's final. I try not too be overconfident since I do worse when I am, but the exam was well-constructed!

I didn't think that the final was easier or harder than any of the midterms, pretty much a similar difficulty.

I felt that the final was fair. There were a few questions that I found difficult, but it was balanced and the allotted time allowed for me to review all my answers multiple times. Looking forward to hopefully returning to in-person classes soon!
