Twist Boat Conformation

Postby Sanjan Kumar 1A » Fri Mar 11, 2016 10:48 pm

In what situations would we know to use the twist boat conformation? Is that just an extra step between the boat conformation and the chair conformation?

Yep, the chair undergoes a twist boat conformation before it reaches the boat conformation.

After that, it goes twist boat again (but in the opposite twist that it began with), and then it goes to a chair that's the flipped version of the first chair. That's how chair flipping happens.
