QUIZ 1
Do we have to know the polyatomic ions for the quiz this week? Also do we have to know how to name compounds?

Re: QUIZ 1
I highly suggest knowing common polyatomic ions and how to name compounds for the quiz. It will help with balancing equations and limiting reactant problems, fundamental topics I'm pretty sure will be on the quiz.
Hope this helps!

Re: QUIZ 1
I was doing the prep quizzes and some of the problems required you to know what the polyatomics were and how to write the formulas from just the names given, so I would definitely know how to do that.

My TA mentioned that we should at least memorize the ones in the course reader (Check under "Naming Simple Compounds" in the "Review of the Chemical & Physical Principles.")

Re: QUIZ 1
I asked Dr. Lavelle and he said that as we come across different compounds, that we should learn those. As they are introduced we should become responsible for them.

Thank you for sharing this, I have been wondering about that for a while.
