Does he curve the Midterm? If he curves it, doesn't that mean that 83%, the class average becomes a C?

The midterm is not curved. Only at the end of the quarter when all the points are accumulated there is a slight curve. I don't think your final grade will be affected that much by the curve unless you have lower than a C or D and you need to pass the class.

This is true. And Professor Lavelle also mentioned that as long as one gets at least half of the total points for the class they will not fail. Also, I believe that any curve that is applied to our final grades in the class can only be beneficial if anything. Correct me if i'm wrong.

At the end of the quarter, he will make sure that anyone with 50% of the points possible passes!
