When does the transition metal change to -ide?
When naming, when does the transition metal ending change to -ide? and is the transition metal always named at the end when written out, but in the written in the beginning when written with chemical symbols?

Re: When does the transition metal change to -ide?
The transition metals do not change their endings to -ide but will change to -ate in the case that the complex compound would be an anion ie: hexa-fluoro-cobaltate(III), otherwise it is simple the name of the metal if it is a cation. As for the position of the metal when writing either in nomenclature form or the chemical compound form, it depends on each compounds.

When naming a complex ion the transition metal is named last but when going from the name to the molecular formula the transition metal is written first.
