Change of State and energy

Postby Steven_Liu_3H » Sun Jan 15, 2017 11:45 pm

Since water can have different energies at different states, can we have a delta_H of formation for water that is at, for example, its sublimation point?

At its sublimation point, it would just be the energy of formation at water state that it is in, whether its a solid or a gas. Doesn't matter the phase change.

What do you mean by water can have different energies at different states? And the enthalpies of formation are defined as the enthalpy change during the formation of one mole of a compound in its standard state. There is only one physical state water is in at standard conditions, so no.
