Catalysts

Postby ntruong2H » Fri Mar 03, 2017 11:41 am

Are catalysts included in the rate law? Also, if they are, do they thus affect the order of the reaction?

Catalysts can be included in the rate law!
I'm not sure on whether or not they affect the order of the reaction though.

In my understanding, if the initial step is slow, then the catalyst (intermediate) is included in the rate law.
If the slow step isn't the initial step, then you ignore intermediates.
