2016 Final
Why in question 2A when the question says that each of the two reactants have half of the partial pressure as the single product would the K=2x/x^2 rather than K=x/(x/2)^2

I think it's because it is easier to use whole numbers instead of fractions, since half of 2x would be x. However, I think both ways should yield the same result.

The overall pressure of the reactants is half the pressure of the product not that cl3 and cl2 are halves. So the denominator is still x^2 but the overall relationship between the reactants and products is that the reactants are half which I believe is why you would multiply by 2 instead of multiplying by 1/2 for convenience.
