Yes. The coefficient is necessary since it describes the number of orbitals available for hybridization. For example, sp^2 will have three orbitals available while sp^3 will have four orbitals available. This is a mixture of orbital energy, creating the hybridization.
It is not required to write out the coefficient I believe, but it would be better practice to do so. As long as the hybridization matches up with the number of electron regions. For instance sp^3 = for 4 electron region densities.
