Memorizing all the names???

Memorizing all the names???
Do we need to know the full name of en (ethylenediamine) or can we just put "en" when naming a compound? I've been told that we do but some people and we don't by others so I'm confused.

I think you have to know the whole name incase the test gives you the formula of a complex and you have to name the whole complex. I think you only use the abbreviation when writing the formula, not the full name.

When naming a compound, you can definitely just use (en) or (dien) or whatever the shorthand may be; however you should probably also know the whole name just in case.
