What’s an example of an open system? Something other than a human body

An example would be a hot cup of water. Heat from the hot water is released into its surroundings, and matter can be exchanged by drinking some of the water, or through the steam that is released into the air.

Another example of an open system is a car. Fuel goes into the engine, and exhaust gases and heat exit.

An open system can be a hot cup of water as long as it's not insulated (not in a thermos or sealed vacuum flask)

Another example is the earth. We are an open system because we get to both matter (meteors) and energy (sunlight) from outside of the earth itself.

Boiling water in a pot without a lid is another example.

Boiling a soup in an open saucepan is an example of an open system because both matter and energy are being exchange with the surroundings. If you put a lid on the saucepan, it becomes a closed system because while the energy is being exchanged, it has a fixed amount of matter.
