### 8.3 Solution Question

In the solutions manual, it says we use change of volume= -(pi)(r^2)(d). Why would we use the radius of the initial diameter and for d we use the second diameter?

If I am not mistaken d is the distance that the surface moved and gives us the correct units for volume
