Standard Temperature

Why is 25 degrees C the standard temperature for reactions? Does it matter if the initial temperature is not 25degrees C?

I think it's just the standard temperature because that's the temperature of most rooms. Like it's the typical room temperature.

When a problem specifies an "initial temp" they are talking about the system. 25 degrees is is the standard temperature for the surroundings, not the system.
