Energy and matter?
Are both matter and energy taken into account to identify open/closed/isolated systems?

Re: Energy and matter?
Yes both matter and energy are important in open, closed, and isolated systems.
For open systems, they are able to transfer both energy and matter to the external surroundings.
Closed systems can transfer energy, but not matter.
While isolated systems cannot exchange energy nor matter.

Re: Energy and matter?
Yes they are taken into account for definition purposes however they are not both transferred in each case.

yes, in an open system, both energy and matter can be exchanged between system and the surroundings. In a closed system, only energy can be exchanged. In an isolated system, neither energy nor matter can be exchanged between a system and its surroundings.

Re: Energy and matter?
We should take these into account for all systems, however there are differences between energy and matter when it comes to open/closed/isolated systems. For open systems we are able to transfer energy and matter. But for closed systems no matter can be transferred only energy can. Lastly, isolated systems result in no energy or matter transfer.

Yes in open systems both energy and matter can be transferred. In closed systems only energy, but not matter, can be transferred. In isolated systems neither energy nor matter can be transferred.
