Memorizing Enthalpies

Postby Kyra LeRoy 1E » Sun Jan 21, 2018 10:52 pm

Do we need to memorize common enthalpies for elements that are not on the constants/equations sheet or will they be provided on the exam?

From what I understand, all the enthalpies needed for a problem will be given on the test.

If a problem requires enthalpies, they will be provided. I do not believe you have to memorize any of them.

You do not need to memorize any enthalpies. You just need to know common standard states, such as zinc is a solid or oxygen is a diatomic gas in order to be utilizing the correct standard enthalpies of formation

Is this also true of bond enthalpies? Or will we have to memorize common bond enthalpies (C-C, O-H, etc.)?

You do not need to memorize bond enthalpies either. Those will be given on the exam.
