Heat capacity
What exactly does heat capacity tell you? (apart what the formula states) like, what does a large heat capacity suggest?

Re: Heat capacity
Heat capacity tells you the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of a substance by 1 degree Celsius/1 Kelvin. A large heat capacity suggests that a large amount of energy is required to raise the temperature by 1 degree Celsius. Since heat capacity is an extensive property (depends on mass), specific heat capacity was introduced as it is intensive.

Re: Heat capacity
Heat capacity tells the amount of heat that is needed in order to raise the temperature of a substance by 1 degree celsius. This relates to specific heat capacity as this is the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one gram of a substance by 1 degree celsius. A large heat capacity, much like water, tells us that the substance needs a fairly large amount of energy to raise the temperature by 1 degree celsius.
