Calculating Work of Expansion

Do we have show how we got our equation through the integral or can we just use the equation?

On exams we probably just need to use the equation. I think Dr. Lavelle shows the integral during lecture just so we can see how the equation comes to be.

Some TA's have said it might be good to know how certain equations are derived because in previous tests he has asked to show how to get a formula.

I would try to remember how to derive the equations Dr. Lavelle shows us, because not only is it possible that it'll be on the test, but it really helps you with understanding the concept and remembering how all of the things we are learning about are related to each other.

Since Dr.Lavelle did mention it specifically, i think we could just use these equations. What matters is whether you understand the question and how to solve it, but not the mathematical calculation demonstration on equation
