What exact parts of chapter 11 do we need to read through for the coming midterm?

According to the syllabus, you should read sections 3, 11, 12, and 13 of chapter 11. I believe that we are also responsible for knowing the rest of chapter 11, which was covered in chem 14A.

I think it is fair game for the midterm since it was covered during lecture. Normally, we aren't asked questions about derivations of formulas, but I would still be familiar with it to be safe.

It's also nice to just know the derivations. In case you are stuck on a question, I find that knowing the derivations and where exactly they come from helps to push me back on track.

I think there was a post somewhere on Chemistry Community that the derivations of the equations are fair game. I doubt it'll be tested on, though, since it's been stressed multiple times that this isn't a math class.
