Equilibrium

Postby Caroline C 1G » Fri Feb 16, 2018 5:41 pm

When a reaction reaches equilibrium does the electric current completely stop flowing between the anode and cathode?

I think the current stops because there is no longer a need for transfer of electrons, but I'm not sure.

From my understanding, it stops because as it reaches equilibrium the chemical/electrical gradient becomes smaller until it disappears and begins to grow when it passes equilibrium.

I think that the current keeps going. But there is no change in current.

The current should stop
