E vs E naught

Postby Jimmy Zhang Dis 1K » Sun Feb 18, 2018 11:45 pm

Can someone explain the difference between E and E naught? Is it the same as G vs G naught?

Yes, E°is under standard conditions (at 1 atm and 25°C) just like G°.

Both E naught and G naught are at standard conditions, when everything is in their standard state. It's also used the same way as in using E naught to fine E as you would do G naught to find G, when the parts aren't in their standard state.

E naught is also has to do with the overall cell potential where the two electrodes of a cell have an overall difference which is the standard potentials
