Balancing REDOX reactions
When you balance the two equations for the number of electrons, would you multiply the E standard of the two equations by the factor you used to balance the equation, or do they remain the same?

Re: Balancing REDOX reactions
Because Eo is an intensive property, voltage difference is the same and does not depend on how many times the reaction occurs.

Re: Balancing REDOX reactions
The value of E should be the same after this is undergone.. there is no need to multiply by the factor.

Re: Balancing REDOX reactions
You would not need to multiply E by the factor, but if you were to switch the equation, the E would change sign.

Re: Balancing REDOX reactions
remember not to multiply E by a factor when you are balancing the equations. Unlike H and S, you do not multiply E by the coefficients you use to balance the equations, since E is intensive.
