Instantaneous Rate
What is the difference between the rate of reaction and the instantaneous rate of reaction?

Re: Instantaneous Rate
Hi,
I believe the rate of reaction is used to calculate the speed at which the concentration changes over a period of time (delta[A] / delta t), while the instantaneous rate of change is used to calculate the rate of reaction at a single point.

Re: Instantaneous Rate
The instantaneous rate is the rate at one point one the reaction. More specifically, we use the instantaneous rate at time=0 so that no products have been formed and we can define the rate only with the concentration of the reactants.

Re: Instantaneous Rate
The instantaneous rate is the rate at which concentration is changing at that one specific moment in time and is noted by d[concentration]/dt. The rate of the reaction is referring to the overall rate of the reaction, or how fast the general reaction is. It is denoted by change in concentration over change in time (delta (M)/delta (T).
