A unique rate is the rate of a substances consumption or formation divided by the stoichiometric coefficient of that substance. This number will be the same for every substance in the reaction.

does that mean that the unique rate is multiplied by the coefficient in order to find the rate of consumption/formation for a specific reactant/product?

Yeah, that's correct. To find the specific rate of consumption/formation of a reagant, you multiply the unique rate of the equation to the reagant's coefficient.
