Will we be tested on the derivation of this equation?

I don't think they'll specifically ask for a derivation, but there are some equations that are not on the formula sheet which we might have to plug things in to achieve.

It doesn't take too long to learn it, it's just the combination of a couple equations for delta G that are given to you.

I am pretty sure you do not need to know the derivation of the equation, just the equation itself. So memorize the equation and you will be good to go.

You probably won't but it isn't a bad idea to know it as deriving the equation can make it a bit easier to understand what is going on.
