### HW 15.45

Is AB the intermediate just because it is formed in one reaction and then consumed in the other? There is still some form of it in step two products (A2B) so is it not completely consumed?

Yes, AB is is the intermediate because it is produced in one reaction and consumed in another. It is completely consumed.
The overall reaction is: 2AC+B -> A2B+2C. Therefore, A2B is not formed using AB as a reactant.

Yes, you are correct, AB is the intermediate because it is formed as a product in one step of the reaction mechanism and then used up as a reactant in another step of the reaction mechanism. The product A2B is a different compound than AB, thus AB is completely consumed in the reaction. A2B is formed from the reactants in the first step, AC and B. Hope this helps!
