What is the difference between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts?

It's simply that homogeneous catalysts are in the same phase as the reactants, and heterogeneous catalysts are in different state from the reactants

A catalyst in a different phase than R is heterogeneous.
A catalyst in the same phase as R is homogeneous.
