rate proportions
Postby Kassandra Molina 2B » Sun Mar 18, 2018 8:50 pm
what does a rate proportion depend on? for example what will happen to a rate if the amount of a molecule doubles or halves?

It depends on the power of the components in the rate law. if one component is a squared, then the rate will change by a factor of 4.

If a reaction is first order then the rate will be doubled when the reactant is doubled. If the reaction is second order and only has one reactant, then doubling the reactant will cause the rate to be squared.
